The change list is very long and those little changes are definitely felt in gameplay. UI and HUD became more clear in meaning and easier to use. Enemy spotting, point capture and overtime, AI tank crew, respawn system, suppression, as well as many other gameplay elements were redesigned. A new map was added, while all existing maps got small changes for balance refinement.
Red orchestra 2 heroes of stalingrad bots update#
Overall, the GOTY update was massive and affected every part of the game in some ways. Sound issues were fixed and the native voiceovers can now be enabled in game settings without messing with game files. Action mode is an easier first step for the players of most popular action shooters it has crosshair, less damage, more concentrated fire, foe/friendly nametags, and more open access to weapons. Classical mode is geared towards the fans of original Red Orchestra, giving less stamina, more aiming sway, fixed weapon configuration among the changes. More choices were added to gameplay, original realism mode has been tweaked, classical and action modes were added to satisfy wider range of players. There are still some issues with 64 player servers, but not as severe. Tripwire Interactive actually did live up to the hopes of fans developers collected the error reports and released many fixes, but a lot of bugs remained until the GOTY update in May 2012. If you’re not sure about this game, better wait a bit before getting it. So, hopefully, in span of several months the bugs will be greatly reduced. There is a light in the tunnel however – Tripwire is known for caring for their games and community and is actively working on fixes.

Red orchestra 2 heroes of stalingrad bots Pc#
With all those at the moment it takes some time and luck to make game playable, sacrificing something your PC should be able to run, but can't due to the bugs. 64 men servers are also problematic, as they require powerful server CPU to work well, but most of them run on weak servers, leading to a high ping. The only thing that works correctly in stats is the Deluxe edition and RO veteran unlocks. Stats system is completely broken at the time of writing of this review, randomly losing progress, or suddenly granting high level and achievements without doing anything. Sound is prone to sudden stuttering and even disappearance, while using a lot of CPU resources on High settings. The performance is an unpredictable beast – for some it works well, for some – a bit worse, for others – awful no matter what, even if they have powerful hardware. Following few paragraphs were written about the state of game almost a year ago. The technical part was simply broken in many ways during the release. All those game mechanics and design choices are mostly good by themselves, but they need a solid technical base to work. Well, as a human I can't avoid all bias (no bribes from TWI) and I really like the ideas of this game, however now I will name the problems, serious problems. Ok, so this sounds an almost perfect game or a very biased (or bribed) reviewer. The quality of native languages is good, as they were recorded in Germany and Russia by native speakers, which gives much better experience than "Rashiian" in COD and many other games. With a small modification it's possible to enable native voices for both teams. The voice work is also an interesting case – default voices for teammates are English ones with an accent, while enemy speaks their native language. With right equipment, high quality sound effects work well together, giving an amazing auditory experience. The sound work also deserves a good deal of praise. The attention to detail is so great, that there is difference in handling otherwise similar Russian and German weapons, as well as in character animations of different teams. The players uniforms also change with leveling up, getting the marks of long use. Different graffiti, posters and portraits hanging on some walls are completely correct and authentic, save for a few odd cases. There is also a lot of detail in each map – the buildings aren't empty, they are filled with different furniture, damaged building are surrounded and filled with rubble.

Each map is closely based on a real location from Stalingrad area with some minor changes for game balancing.

The amazing part is the design of different objects and levels.
